Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble my new Pax wardrobe and have noticed that the various assembly instructions available online differ quite a bit in terms of clarity and level of detail. Therefore, my question to the community is: Which assembly guide for the IKEA Pax wardrobe do you personally find easiest to understand and why? I am especially interested in whether you find the official IKEA instructions more helpful or if you can recommend alternative guides that might be clearer, include more pictures, or provide more detailed step-by-step explanations. It would also be helpful to know if anyone has experience with the supplied instructions being too brief and whether it is better to look online for additional tips. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Oh, that’s a really good question! I usually find the official IKEA instructions pretty solid, mainly because they don’t get lost in lengthy texts. Sure, sometimes the illustrations are a bit minimalist, but that also keeps them clear and straightforward—I mean, who needs pages of unnecessary details when the essential steps are clearly shown? However, if it’s your first time building a system like this, it might be helpful to watch a few videos on YouTube showing how others do it. Sometimes moving images explain more than a static picture. 😉

What also helps me is working step by step in manageable sections and not trying to finish everything in one day. That way, you can always go back or check the video again. Good luck!

I prefer the official IKEA instructions. They are clearly structured, with the individual steps logically numbered. Alternative instructions often cause confusion. Tip: Sort all parts before assembly.

Hello Rarafi,

I understand that the abundance of instructions can be confusing. In my opinion, the IKEA manuals are quite suitable as long as you have a certain level of practical skills. What I often notice is that some beginners underestimate the assembly and then get stuck on steps without detailed written descriptions.

Therefore, I recommend carefully going through the instructions before you start. Sort all the individual parts and compare them with the parts list. If questions or uncertainties arise, it often helps to watch videos of the exact model – these often demonstrate how to handle more difficult parts (e.g., screwing the rails or installing the doors) most effectively.

Also – very important! – use the correct set of tools, which IKEA usually specifies, and take your time. Do you have any specific questions about certain steps?

I’m happy to help!

In my opinion, the official Pax instructions are sufficiently clear, as long as you follow each step carefully and in the correct order. Many misunderstandings arise from skipping or quickly overlooking small details, such as correctly inserting the dowels or aligning the side panels. It is also important that the surface is level and nothing wobbles during assembly.

I also recommend, in case of uncertainty, laying out all screws and parts completely before starting construction to check if everything is present. Defective or missing parts can significantly complicate the process.

Taking this into account, I find the official instructions very suitable and they provide enough information.

Hello Rarafi,

the topic of assembly instructions for the Pax is actually more complex than it initially seems. In my experience, many users manage well with the official guide, but only if the following points are taken into account:

- Preparation: The instructions assume you can correctly interpret the drawings. Confusing similar parts like side panels or drawers often leads to mistakes.
- Follow step-by-step: Never skip multiple steps or perform several at once.
- Door specifics: Depending on the door type (sliding doors, hinged doors, etc.), the assembly details vary significantly. The guide covers these points, but sometimes only briefly.

A common challenge is mounting the hinges and guide rails; precision is essential here, otherwise later adjustments become difficult.

I recommend downloading the exact instruction manual for your specific model, as there are small variations. If you tell me which doors and interior fittings you have, I can offer more targeted advice.

For my last assembly, I also got a PDF from the internet with especially large, color-coded diagrams – this helped a lot, as it clearly shows how the parts fit together.

Have you started yet? Are there particular parts causing you trouble?
