Heidi196524 Feb 2021 22:29We need a new bedroom. Our current one is 37 years old, but we haven’t found anything we like better. We want a bed with spacious nightstands on both sides and an overhead shelf running across the entire width, similar to the photo. I’ve already searched the internet thoroughly and visited furniture stores. There are only standard beds with tiny nightstands. Where do people keep all their stuff? I’m close to looking for a carpenter to refurbish our old bedroom. It’s made of pine and naturally shows signs of wear, but it’s Musterring. I still prefer it over anything I’ve seen in stores so far.

My grandmother said the same thing,
why buy a new mattress when the old one has been around since the war.
And she passed away at home in her bed, which was bought in 1932—we found the purchase receipt.
In short, keep your beloved bed; after all, there’s no better one for you.

The slatted frame and mattress are obviously newer. It’s about the wood.

But if it suits you: I would paint the wooden shelf with kitchen paint or chalk paint. You could always replace the bed itself.
Or alternatively: Baur, Otto, or Schwab... is it called Schwab?
