ᐅ Where can you still find bedrooms or beds with overhead storage?

We need a new bedroom. Our current one is 37 years old, but we haven’t found anything we like better. We want a bed with spacious nightstands on both sides and an overhead shelf running across the entire width, similar to the photo. I’ve already searched the internet thoroughly and visited furniture stores. There are only standard beds with tiny nightstands. Where do people keep all their stuff? I’m close to looking for a carpenter to refurbish our old bedroom. It’s made of pine and naturally shows signs of wear, but it’s Musterring. I still prefer it over anything I’ve seen in stores so far.

You simply have a taste that hasn’t been current for 20 years. Nobody wants those kinds of beds anymore – they’re just outdated. So, at best, you might find some specialty suppliers.

Nowadays, people sleep in a bedroom, not in a cluttered living or storage room. There’s no need to have “stuff” in there. For belongings, there are shelves and cupboards.

Wouldn’t it be an option for you to buy a new (standard) bed and, for example, use plug-in shelves at the headboard? That way, you can store everything there.

So there are at most some niche suppliers somewhere.

... or the local carpenter 😀

In my opinion, a local carpenter can produce something like this for a reasonable price, creating a timeless and solid result.
