Hello everyone,

I recently assembled an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe with sliding doors, and the problem is that the doors keep sticking or don’t fully open and close. It feels like the tracks or rollers might not be correctly aligned, or perhaps the doors have warped.

Does anyone have experience with how to best adjust or fix the Brimnes doors when they stick? Are there any special tips for adjusting the rollers, or could it be a construction issue? I want to avoid taking the entire unit apart if it’s just a minor adjustment.

I would appreciate specific advice on the most effective way to deal with these sticking doors, ideally with a step-by-step guide or at least a troubleshooting approach highlighting the most common causes of this problem. Thanks in advance!

Basically, the rollers are sometimes not properly aligned in the track. First, check if they are loose or getting stuck.

- Carefully remove the door
- Inspect the rollers for any damage
- Clean the tracks from dust and dirt
- Adjust the rollers with a screwdriver, if possible

This often resolves the issue of sticking.

Laymeo, jamming in Brimnes sliding doors often results from incorrect installation or dirt in the rollers and tracks.

Important points:
- Check the alignment of the tracks: they must be mounted exactly parallel and level.
- Rollers should not show any deformation. If you find any, replace them.
- The plastic or metal guides on the top and bottom must be securely fixed, with no play or movement.
- Regular cleaning reduces friction and wear.

A systematic check of these points is effective before attempting more extensive repairs.

That’s really the key point. Even a slight tilt and it gets stuck badly.

Here’s what I did:
- Removed the doors and checked the rails again with a spirit level
- Tightened screws where they were loose
- Applied a small amount of silicone spray (apply cleanly, not too much)

The silicone spray made my Brimnes door slide smoothly – no more sticking.

But: Don’t use too much, or it becomes greasy and attracts dust.

If it still sticks, the frame might be slightly warped. In that case, patience and fine-tuning the rollers will help.
