Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Ikea Brimnes drawers, which start to squeak after some time of use. My question is: How can I prevent my Ikea Brimnes drawers from squeaking? I have already cleaned the drawers and checked to make sure there are no obvious foreign objects in the sliding mechanism, but the squeaking continues. I am interested to know if there are specific care instructions, lubricants, or adjustments recommended for this piece of furniture, without damaging the mechanism. I look forward to your experiences and tips!

Clean the drawer slides and lightly spray them with silicone spray or dry Teflon spray. Thanks for the tip, I have a follow-up question: Does silicone spray damage the plastic parts in the drawer mechanism? I would prefer not to use anything that could harm the plastic rollers or similar components.
That’s a good question. Silicone spray is generally suitable for plastics, metals, and rubber, and usually does not damage them. However, it is important to use a pure silicone spray without additives, as some mixtures can harm certain plastics.
If your Brimnes drawers have plastic rollers, I would recommend using a Teflon spray instead. It lubricates well, does not attract dust, and is usually gentler on plastic components.
Alternatively, you can simply apply a small amount of paraffin- or wax-based lubricant to the guides or rollers if you prefer not to use sprays. Use it sparingly and only on the areas that experience friction.

For the Brimnes drawers, the running rails and rollers are crucial. Most of the time, squeaking is caused by friction from small dust particles or a lack of lubrication.
I recommend:
- First, clean thoroughly, preferably with a slightly damp cloth, then wipe dry.
- For lubrication, PTFE sprays (Teflon sprays) are suitable because they are neither sticky nor do they attract dust.
- Important: Do not use oil, as it attracts dirt and can strain the mechanism over time.
If the rollers are severely worn, replacing them may also be advisable.
