Hello,
I’m new here and unfortunately haven’t found anything about my problem.
We recently purchased a Bodbyn Gray.
Due to the construction of the walls (tile backsplash), the edge extends about 1.5 - 2 cm (0.6 - 0.8 inches) forward,
so now we have a gap between the end of the cabinet side panel and the wall.
IKEA offers end trims, but only in white or black.
Does anyone know of an alternative manufacturer that also offers gray trims?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Knut

Hello, the moldings are meant to be used when no side panels are installed. That’s why they are only available in the two cabinet colors.

Regarding the problem, I can only think of two options:
1. Install the side panels without leaving a gap to the wall.
2. Have the paint matched to the front color so you can paint wooden moldings (e.g., cove molding) and attach them to the wall. Instead of painting, you could also cover them with wallpaper.

...thanks for the reply!

Perhaps I didn’t explain our issue clearly enough, so here is a more detailed description:
- We have wall cabinets that are 80cm (31.5 inches) high with matching end panels.
- To mount them level, additional battens were installed behind the hanging rails at the top to compensate for the tiled backsplash.
- The end panels are installed flush with the front of the cabinet doors. This means the cabinets stand approximately 4cm (1.6 inches) away from the wall at the top and about 2cm (0.8 inches) at the bottom.
- To close this gap, we are looking for trim strips, preferably in Bodbyn gray.

Best regards,
Knut

I already understood that. The gap could have been smaller if you had left out the spacers at the bottom and placed fewer under the rail. Then, first, the side panels would align roughly flush with the carcass at the front and rest against the wall at the back.
Cove moldings wider than 4 cm (1.5 inches) will probably not be available, but there are flat moldings, for example.

Light natural wood molding with visible grain, ideal for interior finishing

Plastic moldings, similar to those from IKEA, are used in window construction, but I don’t think they come in (BODBYN) gray.

You can also ask the other professionals here how this is handled by other manufacturers who use mounting rails.
