StrobelHello everyone,
We are currently renovating an old house and have installed a new screed with underfloor heating. The area in the shower was left open because the screed there will be done by the tiler. Now, my tiler has expressed concerns because the pipes for the underfloor heating run beneath the shower drain pipe. He said that this could cause the drain pipe to dry out quickly, heat up, and start to smell. Do you share these concerns?
I think the plumber had to do it this way, otherwise, there wouldn’t have been enough slope for drainage. Our floor construction upstairs consists of 5cm (2 inches) screed, 5cm (2 inches) insulation, and then a 14cm (5.5 inches) concrete slab. Would there have been an alternative? Does it help to insulate the pipe?
Thank you and best regards!
