Hello everyone,
After seeing several discussions about robotic vacuum cleaners in various threads here, we are increasingly convinced that we want to get one of these devices.
The Vorwerk Kobold VR200 and also the VR100 robotic vacuums, which have been mentioned here multiple times, seem quite expensive to me (749 and 599 euros, respectively).
So I went to the website of my trusted online retailer and searched for "robotic vacuum." Then I selected the robotic vacuum cleaner category: 161 results. Prices ranged from around 75 euros to nearly 900 euros.
One model that caught my eye was the Philips FC8820/01 because it reportedly allows you to point the remote control at dirt if something falls on the floor, and it will vacuum it up.
Does anyone have experience with these devices? Can anyone recommend other models?
Do they always only clean the room where you place them, or do they clean the entire floor (assuming the doors are open)?
My requirements:
Thank you very much for your feedback.

My requirements:
- Initially, only one device for the ground floor, possibly another for the upper floor later.
- Living area about 92 m² (990 sq ft) on the ground floor, with the largest room about 55 m² (592 sq ft).
- Charging station (I don’t want to plug the device in manually every time).
- Good cleaning performance.
- Not excessively noisy (even though we are mostly not at home).
- Good price/performance ratio.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
I can easily imagine the situation with the two cats. Our cat is allowed outside and definitely sheds a lot out there. Indoors, she has certain spots where her fur tends to accumulate. However, the number of these spots is quite manageable.
The scratching post, carpet in the upstairs hallway, chairs, and so on. On the tiles downstairs, she barely sheds at all.
In the past, she even respected her off-limit areas (bedroom and kitchen) despite the doors being open. Since we moved into the house, unfortunately, that’s no longer the case, so I try to keep the upstairs rooms and the kitchen closed when we leave the house in the morning.
I know what it’s like to get help from a two-year-old. That’s why cleaning day is mainly when both of us are home, so the child can be occupied elsewhere.
The extra free time is definitely something to appreciate. On the other hand, there are so many ways to save time, and unfortunately, not everything is possible (robot vacuum cleaner, robotic lawn mower, mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, automatic irrigation system, etc.).

Hello
We have been using the Kobold VR 100 from Vorwerk for a long time now, and I have to say it was worth every cent.
At first, I was skeptical because I thought it would be money thrown away... BUT I would never want to miss this little vacuum cleaner. It easily cleans the entire apartment, whether it’s tiles, laminate, or carpet!
We are now planning to get a second one for the house, for the upstairs floor!
We always run it when we are not at home and enjoy coming back to a clean apartment!
No matter if it’s hair, crumbs, dust, or dry soil (from my child’s muddy shoes)… it picks up everything without any problems!
I can also recommend checking out Neato Robotics devices.
Best regards

I can totally understand that.
I completely agree. Getting a second robot vacuum isn’t going to happen for now.
Our son parked the second car so awkwardly in the dark that it got stuck on a bollard. Now the car has to go to the repair shop first. Let’s hope the catalytic converter at least stayed intact.

That’s quite a coincidence!
Last week during a school trip, our daughter broke her little toe at the cabin party. A woman stumbled and stepped on our daughter’s feet, which were in sneakers, with her ski boots.
To top it off: I will undergo a cervical spine disc surgery next week.
I hope that means the disasters for this year are finally behind us.
Think positive
