At the wood store, the salesperson mentioned that it is also possible to install hardwood flooring in the kitchen without any issues, which would definitely look much better than a separate tiled area. Who has had hardwood flooring in their kitchen for a longer time and can share their experience?

We are also planning something special in terms of shape and pattern. Maybe this could be an idea for you too?

We have hardwood flooring in the kitchen. I have to say, you need to be careful that no water is left standing on the floor. Small water splashes I simply wipe away with my feet or socks. We have a small rug in a similar color placed in front of the sink. This is because when you wash dishes and want to dry your hands, water tends to drip onto the floor if you hang the towel on the handle of the drawer. Sometimes the rug is also pushed in front of the cooking area.
So there is definitely some extra effort involved. But I wouldn’t want different types of flooring in the open living area. Initially, we considered installing tiles in the kitchen area, but we decided against it because there was no practical way to separate the different floorings.
So hardwood flooring works fine in the kitchen, but you just have to be more careful or accept some stains. Eventually, there will be some wear and tear on the floor anyway. Still, we wouldn’t want anything else. Of course, everyone needs to decide for themselves.
