ᐅ Bathroom with few tiles?

Hello everyone,
we would actually prefer to use only a few tiles in our bathroom and instead paint most of the walls with water-resistant paint. Has anyone had experience with this? And how does it compare cost-wise?
We have two young children, so the bathroom should be quite durable.
Thank you in advance,
Best regards, Roni

Or even better, I would like wood throughout the entire wet area. Stains on the wood don’t bother me; I just don’t want it to become moldy. Does anyone have experience with wooden floors or wood on the walls (directly in the splash zone)?
Best regards

We wanted to minimize the use of tiles throughout the entire house and decided to go with concrete cire. The hallway, kitchen, and guest toilet have no tiles at all; only the main bathroom has large floor tiles. The walls, washbasin area, and the entire shower are also coated with concrete cire.

I have to say: this was a great decision in terms of appearance, feel, and maintenance, especially for the kitchen and bathroom. I can definitely recommend it. The only thing we are not completely happy with is the floor (concrete floor) — but we probably wouldn’t be satisfied either if we had to watch a tiled surface age with grout lines.

Hi krachbumms,
Did you create your walls with Beton Ciré yourself or have them installed by a company? I’m interested in how it is applied. Online, it looks like the material costs about 25€ per square meter (11.6 USD per square yard). That would be quite manageable.

We had this done. I’m not exactly a fabulous craftsman, but my impression was that it’s not quite that easy. €25 seems very low to me. Besides the filler, which has to be applied several times, you also have to sand and seal. I once talked to someone who, in the end, estimated a price of about €50-75 per square meter (around $55-80 per square yard) when doing it yourself...

And what did you pay the tradespeople?
