Hello everyone,
After seeing several discussions about robotic vacuum cleaners in various threads here, we are increasingly convinced that we want to get one of these devices.
The Vorwerk Kobold VR200 and also the VR100 robotic vacuums, which have been mentioned here multiple times, seem quite expensive to me (749 and 599 euros, respectively).
So I went to the website of my trusted online retailer and searched for "robotic vacuum." Then I selected the robotic vacuum cleaner category: 161 results. Prices ranged from around 75 euros to nearly 900 euros.
One model that caught my eye was the Philips FC8820/01 because it reportedly allows you to point the remote control at dirt if something falls on the floor, and it will vacuum it up.
Does anyone have experience with these devices? Can anyone recommend other models?
Do they always only clean the room where you place them, or do they clean the entire floor (assuming the doors are open)?
My requirements:
Thank you very much for your feedback.

My requirements:
- Initially, only one device for the ground floor, possibly another for the upper floor later.
- Living area about 92 m² (990 sq ft) on the ground floor, with the largest room about 55 m² (592 sq ft).
- Charging station (I don’t want to plug the device in manually every time).
- Good cleaning performance.
- Not excessively noisy (even though we are mostly not at home).
- Good price/performance ratio.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Hello RFR,
this model has been mentioned here several times already, and I’m looking forward to a more detailed review from you.
Something like that is always more meaningful than any tests you might have seen or read elsewhere.
Are the system sounds really as annoying as I’ve read a few times?
Do you perhaps have any feedback on how the little device handles rocking chairs or maybe even a pen or toy lying on the floor?
Best regards, Andreas

After 6 months of use, we are still very satisfied with our Kobold.
By now, it runs exclusively on carpet in the upper floor, and we only use the larger Kobold on weekends to vacuum the corners that the robot can’t reach due to various objects or furniture.
A wet vacuum cleaner was recently introduced on the ground floor.
After careful consideration, we decided against the Vorwerk. The Vorwerk uses a damp cloth that needs to be moistened before use and replaced after about 20 m² (215 sq ft).
The Philips hard floor cleaner Aqua Trio Plus works with two rollers and has a fresh water tank and a dirty water tank, each with a capacity of 70 ml (2.4 fl oz).
Cost of the device: starting at €370. Cost of the rollers (according to the manufacturer, every 6 months): €35.00.
The fresh water tank can be used either without cleaning agents or with a non-foaming cleaner.
For vinyl flooring, I use half a teaspoon of vinyl floor cleaner, and for tiles, I use soap flakes.
It works perfectly, is fast, and the tanks are emptied or refilled in no time.
One tank fill lasts for just under 50 m² (540 sq ft).
The device stands in a plastic tray that is part of the self-cleaning mechanism: pour 300 ml (10 fl oz) of fresh water into the tray and switch the device on at the same time. The vacuum pulls the water through the rollers and cleans them after each use.
Cleaning is now as easy as vacuuming, and our floors shine without streaks! The vinyl now has a nice, slightly silky sheen.

For the vinyl floor, I use half a teaspoon of vinyl floor cleaner, and for the tiles, I use castile soap.

I have been considering getting one for a while. It has just been ordered now.
The Philips Trio hard floor cleaner.
I struggled with the decision for a long time.
I tried the Vorwerk VR200 robot vacuum cleaner -> but it wasn’t really an option for me due to its lack of orientation (vacuum cleaner Alzheimer’s).
Then I had the Vorwerk cordless vacuum mop. In my opinion, it just spreads the dirt around with the same cloth, which is only dampened.
I’m happy to share my experience with the Philips once I’ve tried it on Monday.
