Hello everyone,
I was a bit surprised when a professional (hammer) told me today that vinyl flooring on underfloor heating should definitely be glued down, otherwise the heat transfer would not be sufficient.
Is this a common opinion among you as well?

Best regards

I’m not sure about the technical aspects. However, both the store where we chose the vinyl and the flooring installer who will lay it said the same thing. Floating click vinyl is possible, they said, but it significantly reduces the efficiency of the heating system. Conclusion: glue it down or use tiles. Karsten

Yes, that’s correct. When installing floating floors (this applies equally to parquet and laminate), air pockets form between the covering and the screed, which provide some insulating effect. Fully gluing down the floor is the recommended approach.

Regardless, I find the quality to be much higher.

In our old apartment, floating parquet flooring.

Now, firmly glued flooring; also vinyl in the kitchen (also firmly glued).

Simply great

Thanks for the information. Then it will just be glued.
My idea was to have the preparation work done (filling, etc.) and then apply the vinyl ourselves with two people. That should be doable, right? Do you have any tips regarding the adhesive or the process?

We have installed click-lock flooring – since insulation and reflective material are placed beneath the underfloor heating, the heat can only move upwards. It might take a few extra minutes to warm up, but this does not affect the overall efficiency.
