Hello dear forum,
I will soon be installing a new kitchen and have the following question:
The depth of the upper cabinets in the Metod series is always given both with and without the mounting rail (e.g., 59cm (23 inches) vs. 60cm (24 inches)). This means that at the top mounting point, the cabinet with the mounting rail always stands one centimeter (0.4 inches) further away from the wall than without it.
From what I understood in the assembly instructions, the same spacer is always installed at the bottom of the cabinets. If the cabinet then protrudes one centimeter (0.4 inches) more at the top than without the mounting rail, does that mean the cabinet will tilt forward?
I assume the tilt is probably not enough for the dishes to fall out when opening the door. Or are the cabinets designed so that without the mounting rail they are slightly tilted backward, and with the mounting rail they are level?
Thanks for your answers!

The installation manual for the wall cabinets shows both mounting options – with or without a rail. Without a rail, plastic spacers are inserted to create the distance from the wall. Together with the lower spacers, this ensures the cabinet is ventilated from the back.
I find mounting with rails much better because you can compensate for uneven walls by shimming the rail, which helps align the wall cabinets at the top. I installed our kitchen with rails since the walls were not perfectly straight. You then need to adjust the lower spacers accordingly, meaning sometimes leaving them out or installing a suitable board or similar at the bottom; otherwise, the bottom alignment of the cabinets will be off.

Dear experts, I would like to revisit this discussion. I am installing an Ikea corner cabinet from the METOD series. On one side, it is hanging on the Ikea rail, while on the other side – due to the wall’s structure – it is mounted on a screw. No matter how I measure, the holes for the rail and the screw are in the correct positions, but the cabinet tilts backward toward the corner.
My first idea was to recreate the missing rail on one side with a piece of wood as a spacer. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. I can’t figure it out: On the side without the rail, I also attached a spacer at the bottom – one spacer was missing. Should this maybe be removed? I would appreciate it if someone could understand and explain this to me. Best of luck from Hessen, Ninine
