Good morning,

Last night I suddenly had a thought:

My current work surface height is 86 cm (34 inches). The finished height of an IKEA kitchen is supposed to be around 91 cm (36 inches). The existing sockets are 11 cm (4.3 inches) below the countertop (measured from the bottom edge of the socket cover). This means there would only be about 6 cm (2.4 inches) of space between the new countertop and my current sockets.

How tall is the IKEA kickboard? Moving the sockets now isn’t ideal, but maybe the height can be adjusted downward using the legs? What options are there for this?

Thanks

The wall trim is about 3 cm (1 inch) high, so if you want to use custom-made countertops and wall trim, you can have them made to the exact size you need. Please check with IKEA beforehand, as there are minimum size requirements due to production constraints.

The legs have some adjustability; the nominal height is 16 cm (6¼ inches), with an adjustment range from just under 15 cm (6 inches) to around 18 cm (7 inches). I don’t remember the exact figures. The floor must be level and flat; otherwise, the adjustment range is useless because you need it to compensate for unevenness.

By the way, if you’re tight on space, you can cut off 1 to 1½ threads from the Faktum legs, and they will still remain stable. This gave me about 1.5 to 2 cm (¾ inch) of extra adjustment. However, this was a long time ago, so you should check the legs closely yourself.

Hi,

Faktum legs measuring 16cm (6.3 inches) can be adjusted between 14.5 and 18.5cm (5.7 and 7.3 inches). Capita legs only have an adjustment range of 1cm (0.4 inches) to compensate for height differences.

Best regards

Or consider power outlets installed in the countertop... However, this is not for everyone, and I’m not sure if it can be done with a custom-sized countertop.

Hi,

Basically, everything is possible. However, Ikea did not purchase such a part directly from the manufacturer. What you can order is the hole for the faucet, but it is likely to be too small.

By the way, cutouts in laminate boards are, in my opinion, pointless. The board is not actually cut at the required spots but only marked. In other words, you pay for a cutout but still have to saw it yourself. The cutout cannot be made beforehand because the board would be too unstable for transport.

Best regards
