ᐅ Preliminary floor plan – request for feedback

Hello everyone,

we are planning to add a full additional floor to my parents’ single-family house and already have a semi-final design (see attachment). What do you think about it, and do you have any suggestions for improvements?

As a layperson, the very large pantry immediately stands out to me. Does it really need to be that big?

If half the size would be sufficient, the kitchen could be designed in an L-shape, creating a much more open living, dining, and cooking area...

Thanks for the comment. This is actually intentionally planned that way because we see significant personal advantages in it. The plan even includes a U-shaped kitchen with a small counter facing the living room. According to a well-known kitchen manufacturer, the space is completely sufficient and can be implemented without any problems.

Well, the well-known kitchen manufacturer’s sales representative is happy about every additional meter (yard) they can sell. So please take such statements with a grain of salt.
You could get better feedback here if you include the furniture layout in your drawings.

I would raise all the doors, it just looks better. I find the windows in the walk-in closet and bathroom too narrow. In the hallway, I would add a window in front of the bedroom door, as the hallway has no natural light otherwise.

Why not place the guest toilet door on the other wall? Otherwise, the front door and the guest toilet door would regularly face each other.
