Hi, how did you plan your utility room?
Ours is 7.50m² (81 sq ft) and already packed with
We only have space for a washing machine because our design specialist says the individual devices need to be spaced as far apart as possible so they can be accessed from all sides (except the back). However, I’m not sure how accurate that advice is.
Therefore, I’d like to ask here: Do you also have such large distances between each device (about 50 - 70cm (20 - 28 inches)) and consequently no room left to fit anything else?
I’m grateful for any experiences or tips!

The washing machine and dryer are positioned right next to each other. The fuse box is located a short distance beside the heating system, which is not an issue.
We have allocated enough space for each appliance and marked it with chalk lines during the shell construction. No one should think that the wall is reserved only for their trade. We also spoke with everyone before starting. That is why the refrigerator, washing machine and dryer, water softener, and sink each have their own designated space.

😀 I just have to think of our plumber, who also saw the 20sqm (215 sq ft) technical room as a ballroom for his heating system, and I understand exactly what you mean.

Here is the technical room including the necessary equipment and a washing machine. The appliances seem quite spread out with large distances between them. In my opinion, space could be saved by arranging everything closer together. That would also allow for more than just a washing machine to fit. However, the architect said the appliances need to remain spaced out to allow access from all sides (red, dashed boxes).

Myrna_Loy25 Jan 2022 12:20Our home systems planner recommended not to plan too tightly, as you never know what you might add, upgrade, or replace later. Generally, devices tend to get smaller, but more components and technical elements are added here and there. If the new buffer tank ends up 20cm (8 inches) wider but 10cm (4 inches) narrower, you might have to move half of the system in the worst-case scenario.
