ᐅ My KALLAX unit wobbles on a wooden floor after moving out – what can I do?

Hello everyone,

I have a KALLAX shelf standing on a smooth wooden floor surface. Since the last time I pulled out one of the middle drawers, the unit no longer stabilizes properly and starts to wobble noticeably, especially when opening and closing that drawer. The wobbling seems unusual to me because I always thought the KALLAX was relatively stable and sturdy.

My question is: What can I do to fix or at least reduce the wobbling? Are there any tips or common methods to increase stability, especially on wooden floors? I want to avoid damage to the furniture or the entire structure becoming unstable due to the wobbling.

I have tried simply moving the shelf, but that hasn’t helped much so far. I would appreciate advice on suitable materials—possibly for placing underneath—or solutions that work long-term.

Does anyone know the best way to attach these to a KALLAX unit?

Many furniture legs with screw threads require a drilled hole or existing anchors. KALLAX does not have a built-in threaded insert under the base panel, so legs are usually screwed in or attached using mounting plates that you can either glue or screw to the underside.

If you want to avoid drilling holes, many manufacturers offer non-slip adhesive feet. These typically have a rubber base that sticks well to wood or laminate surfaces while also adjusting the height.

Adjustable plastic feet, like those often used for cabinets (furniture legs with notches or threads), are ideal but do require fittings that are not standard on KALLAX. If you’re handy, you can install small threaded inserts or fix brackets yourself.

One more tip: If you want to experiment with different materials, you can simply combine felt furniture glides with self-adhesive rubber pads. This way, you get cushioning, stability, and slip resistance all in one.
