I have mounted two wall cabinets ME 343 (W60 x H40 x D38.8cm (W24 x H16 x D15 inches)) side by side on the wall. The extractor hood Utdrag is installed in the left cabinet, which also has power outlets. In the right cabinet, I want to integrate a microwave. I would like to use the BEJUBLAD in white, but unfortunately, it is too deep! As an alternative, I have now chosen the HUSHÅLLA in stainless steel.

But is that even possible? The dimensions should fit, but the installation instructions only show "taller" cabinets.

Is this a heat dissipation/ventilation issue, or is there another reason against it? Has anyone done this before?

Hello, this should be a design issue. HELANDE cannot be installed at the bottom because if you insert a base panel at the bottom, there is no longer enough space. HELANDE probably cannot be installed properly at the top either.

The easiest option is to place a freestanding microwave inside the cabinet. If your cabinet door opens upwards, you can easily operate the microwave, and when finished, just close the door and it’s completely hidden. We have two kitchens in our house where the microwave is installed in a cabinet (they are tall cabinets, but it’s basically the same idea). The advantage is that you’re not limited to the relatively expensive built-in appliances.

Yes, it seems to be a design issue. I would have to leave out the base; without HELANDE it would look quite poor (probably not flush at the bottom, and definitely not at the top). I would then need to have suitable trims custom made. A side view of HUSHÅLLA with exact measurements would be very helpful...

How is ventilation handled for the Ikea cabinet/microwave? Is the back panel removed, or is ventilation provided through the 8 or 10mm (0.3 or 0.4 inches) that, according to the instructions, must be cut off the top cover at the back?

Have you ever installed the Siemens one? Does it fit without any issues?

A standalone unit behind the door could be an option, but space would be tight, not least because of the UTRUSTA hinges at the top.

A freestanding appliance behind the door is an option, but it will be tight, especially because of the UTRUSTA hinges at the top.

Our microwave is also installed in a cabinet with a lift-up hinge. It’s a very cheap Aldi microwave (we don’t use it that often), but width is not an issue at all. If you want to place a freestanding microwave in an upper cabinet, the depth is more important for fitting it in. Basically, you have plenty of options there. Ventilation is actually not really a concern. After use, just wait until the microwave cools down, then close the microwave door and the cabinet door, and that’s it.

Example of a Medion countertop microwave: "Do not place any objects on top of the microwave. For adequate ventilation, a clearance of 30 cm (12 inches) above and 20 cm (8 inches) on both sides must be maintained."

I have no experience with the Siemens device. The frame height is specified as 38 cm (15 inches). This leaves 1 cm (0.4 inches) of clearance on both the bottom and top inside the cabinet. The frame can probably be centered by screwing a wooden board of suitable thickness to the base. You can download the installation manual from Siemens.
