Hello everyone! I’m interested in an IKEA kitchen and understand that you need side panels for the visible sides of the cabinet boxes. And here I already have the first problem! The base cabinets have boxes that are 80 cm (31.5 inches) high, and the plinths are 8 cm (3 inches) high. The side panels for the 60 cm (24 inches) deep boxes are accordingly 80 cm (31.5 inches) high, but for the 37 cm (15 inches) deep ones, they are 86 cm (34 inches) high!
1. Why is that?
2. Do I have to cut the 86 cm (34 inches) panels down?
In this great 3D planner, there aren’t even side panels for these cabinets, only filler strips. I tried to figure it out using the software, but it doesn’t work.

IKEA-newbie16 Nov 2015 20:13Ah, so all cabinets without a track are 37cm (15 inches) plus 1.8cm (0.7 inches) or 60cm (24 inches) plus 1.8cm (0.7 inches) deep? So, 38.8cm (15.3 inches) and 61.8cm (24.3 inches)?

You’re driving me crazy...
"Depth without hanging rail: 36.6 cm (14.4 inches)
System depth: 37.0 cm (14.6 inches)"
😕

IKEA-Experte17 Nov 2015 20:47also, system depth = nominal depth = a practical measurement that does not have to match the exact actual dimensions. For example, a panel with a nominal size of 20 x 60 cm (8 x 24 inches) may actually measure 19.7 x 59.7 cm (7.8 x 23.5 inches).

IKEA-newbie17 Nov 2015 23:25Ah, okay! You seem to know your stuff really well, are you a professional? 🙂
So I can assume that the overall depth is always the nominal depth plus 1.8 cm (0.7 inches).
That also means that the door stops are surface-mounted and the side panels almost align with the doors.
Yes, that must be the case, it makes sense.
Thank you very much, you’ve been a great help! 🙂

IKEA-Experte18 Nov 2015 10:16Hm, I don’t think I was very helpful. Nominal depth is just the stated measurement, not the actual size.
Depth without the mounting rail: 36.6 cm (14.4 inches) Ringhult front: 1.8 cm (0.7 inches) 1 mm (0.04 inches) gap = 38.5 cm (15.2 inches)
With the mounting rail, add 1 cm (0.4 inches).
Section manager, robi-ffm ... have fully assembled a METOD kitchen. Maybe they can explain and show better how it actually looks with all the tolerances in reality.
