Hello everyone,

we are currently looking for a lawn mower – we have about 600 m² (approximately 6458 sq ft) of lawn, and eventually we plan to plant some bushes and other plants as well.
Our landscape gardener recommended a Sabo mower – does anyone have experience with it? I would prefer a mulching mower. I found Makita quite appealing, while others swear by Honda or Husqvarna...

I’d rather avoid a corded mower – battery-powered ones are also quite expensive; right now, I am most convinced by a gasoline mower.

Thanks for your tips and opinions.

Yes, with gasoline you are independent... although they are always too loud for me...

With Makita, you can't go wrong...

Cabled mowers have the advantage of being much quieter, so you won’t upset the neighbors if you mow on a Saturday at 2 PM. They’re also lightweight and relatively simple in terms of technology since everything runs on a basic electric motor. They’re basically foolproof, except for the risk of running over the cable.

Battery-powered mowers don’t last very long and aren’t great value for money. For around 600 m² (6500 sq ft), the runtime could definitely be an issue. The power of battery mowers is still relatively modest, although they are slowly becoming more popular.

We will probably go for a robotic lawn mower combined with a simple corded mower that’s only used occasionally when the robot can’t handle it anymore (for example, the first mowing after waiting too long).

Brand? The price usually reflects the quality. 600 m² (6500 sq ft) is quite a bit of lawn, so a $300 mower probably won’t be very enjoyable to use. How about a used one from the $1000+ range? Mulching is a good option and all the robots do that anyway.

My father says the same – but I think that might be a bit too much of a good thing.

Yes, 600 sqm (6,458 sq ft) is quite a lot, but using a ride-on mower for that would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut...

What do you plan to do with the cut grass? Leave it on the ground or dispose of it?
