ᐅ Lawnmower: Electric, Battery-Powered, or Gasoline?

Hello everyone,

we are currently looking for a lawn mower – we have about 600 m² (approximately 6458 sq ft) of lawn, and eventually we plan to plant some bushes and other plants as well.
Our landscape gardener recommended a Sabo mower – does anyone have experience with it? I would prefer a mulching mower. I found Makita quite appealing, while others swear by Honda or Husqvarna...

I’d rather avoid a corded mower – battery-powered ones are also quite expensive; right now, I am most convinced by a gasoline mower.

Thanks for your tips and opinions.

Is it even allowed to store gasoline like that?^^ I remember there was something about it.

I believe small quantities are available, yes.
The Sabo 36 EL with mulch kit... 370 € (about 370 USD) – but reportedly it will last a long time and weighs only 22 kg (48.5 lbs), making it very light.
Alternatively, there are quite a few options around 220 € (about 220 USD) – but as mentioned, they often tend to scythe or fail to mulch properly.

A cutting width of 36cm (14 inches) is only suitable for a small ornamental garden in front of the house. Otherwise, you would never finish.

Here is my report. It ended up being 36 liters (9.5 gallons) with the mulching kit.

It felt like emptying the basket took the longest time with the 33-liter (8.7-gallon) model on 600 m² (6460 ft²). The mowing itself was fine.

Is the 600m² (6460 square feet) referring to the actual lawn area or the total property size?

In the first post, there was talk of a 600 m² (6,460 ft²) lawn area. With a cutting width of 33 cm (13 inches), that results in a total cutting length of 1,800 m (1.1 miles) (600 / 0.33). Automatic robotic mowers usually operate at about 3.6 km/h (2.2 mph). Therefore, the pure mowing time of 30 minutes is possible with perfect coverage of the cutting width. With a mower that has a 52 cm (20 inches) cutting width, this would be 1,200 m (0.75 miles) and thus a pure mowing time of 20 minutes. Converted per month, this roughly adds up to about one extra hour of mowing time per month.

However, choosing a mower from Sabo certainly isn’t a bad decision. Still, I would have opted for a larger mower.
