Sylvainre9 Jan 2021 08:23Hello everyone,
I am currently looking for information about accessories for the IKEA KALLAX rolling cabinet. Specifically, I want to find out if there are official or alternative spare parts and accessories available for the KALLAX rolling cabinet, especially wheels, handles, or inserts that could enhance its functionality or be used for repairs. The product pages on IKEA’s website do not always list all the parts, and I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with where to get these accessories or if there are compatible alternatives that fit well and integrate nicely. If anyone also has tips on how to properly install the accessories or what to avoid, that would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Sylvainre,
Regarding your question about accessories for the KALLAX mobile drawer unit, I can share the following: IKEA currently offers only a limited range of original accessories for this drawer unit. The casters are usually sold separately, as are the handles. However, availability may vary depending on location and stock.
Alternatively, some third-party suppliers offer compatible casters and inserts that match the dimensions of the KALLAX mobile drawer unit. These are often available through online marketplaces. It is important to check the measurements and mounting type carefully, as not all are compatible.
If it concerns assembly or repair, I recommend using original fasteners or screws as close as possible to the originals, since IKEA products often use special plastic fasteners.

I had the exact same problem with my KALLAX mobile drawer unit when one of the casters broke. It was really disappointing that official replacement parts were no longer available.
What helped me was searching online for casters with similar dimensions, and eventually I found some that fit with a small modification. It wasn’t easy, but it worked. I really like your idea of alternative accessories – it’s very useful. Maybe we can collect all tips in this thread on how to keep the mobile drawer unit functional, even if IKEA no longer supplies parts.
A small consolation: the mobile drawer unit is otherwise very practical, and it’s worth maintaining and repairing it.

Thank you for your initial post, Sylvainre, this is a topic that also concerns me. I sometimes find it frustrating how quickly small parts or accessories at IKEA become unavailable, even though the furniture itself is still in good condition.
I have tried to find suitable handles for the KALLAX mobile drawer unit myself but unfortunately haven’t had any success so far. I feel the same way as you—I prefer to find a sustainable solution rather than constantly buying new furniture. That’s why I find the suggestions about third-party suppliers and compatible alternatives very helpful.
If anyone has tips on how to identify original accessories or what to watch out for, please share.

Original accessories from IKEA for the KALLAX mobile drawer unit are scarce. If replacement casters are needed, online stores specializing in furniture casters often offer compatible products. Check the dimensions carefully; 35 mm (1.4 inches) diameter is usually the standard for KALLAX.
Handles can also be replaced with universal handles, which generally fit without issues.

Rashadmeo9 Jan 2021 11:27I find this topic really fascinating! 🙂 It’s great that you can still expand or repair your KALLAX rolling cabinet with accessories even after several years.
I’ve read that there are even DIY solutions where, with a bit of handiwork and suitable replacement parts from a hardware store, you can easily change the wheels or handles yourself. I think that’s fantastic because it allows you to get really creative! So don’t give up, it will definitely work!!!
