Hello everyone,
I have had a KALLAX shelving unit from IKEA in my living room for some time, and I’ve noticed something striking: the furniture seems to attract dust like a magnet. After just a few days, a noticeable layer of dust forms on the shelves and edges. I’m wondering whether this is due to the surface texture of the unit or if there is another reason.
Since I use the shelving regularly and don’t want to wipe it down completely all the time, I would like to ask:
What cleaning tips do you have to effectively reduce dust buildup on the KALLAX unit or at least make cleaning easier? Are there specific cleaning products, cloths, or techniques that have proven useful, especially when considering the preservation of the surface?
I look forward to your suggestions and experiences!

Antistatic spray should be applied after cleaning to reduce static electricity buildup. Thanks for the tip!
Can anyone recommend a good, affordable, and non-aggressive antistatic spray that is suitable for furniture like KALLAX?
I don’t want to risk any potential surface damage.

Can anyone recommend a good, affordable, and non-aggressive antistatic spray?I have had very good experiences with the "Antistatic Furniture and Wood Care" product from the brand Xyladecor. It is specially formulated for furniture coatings and does not damage the surface.
Alternatively, there are antistatic wipes available from various manufacturers that condition without additives and are easy to use.
Just make sure to read the instructions before use and test on an inconspicuous area first.
