Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe system and now have a question about whether there is an official or at least recommended guide for wall mounting.

The package included a brief assembly manual for the furniture itself, but I couldn’t find any detailed instructions on how to securely attach it to the wall – which is especially important for taller furniture to prevent tipping accidents.

My specific questions are:
- Does IKEA provide a special guide for wall mounting the Brimnes furniture, or are commonly used restraint systems recommended?
- If so, what is the recommended method for wall mounting (for example: which anchors, screws, or mounting brackets are advised)?
- Are there any official notes about which wall materials are suitable or where extra caution is needed?

I would appreciate a detailed, clear answer that helps me assemble it safely. Thank you in advance!

Hello,

IKEA usually includes a small wall-mounting bracket with all tall furniture, including Brimnes. This typically consists of a metal bracket and a set of fasteners for the wall. The exact installation is usually only briefly described in the manual.

- Use anchors suitable for your wall type (e.g., plastic anchors for concrete, special anchors for drywall)
- Screw the furniture to the wall using the bracket

If you have not found any instructions, you can consider these steps as the standard procedure.

That is generally correct. IKEA’s Brimnes series often includes a safety kit consisting of two brackets and mounting hardware. However, the contents can vary depending on the product and the delivery date.

It is important to consider the following points when attaching the furniture to the wall:
- Use the mounting accessories provided in the package, as they are specifically designed for the furniture.
- Check the type of wall (concrete, brick, drywall, etc.). For drywall, special cavity anchors are recommended.
- The attachment must be installed securely to prevent the furniture from tipping over.

IKEA typically recommends securing the furniture to the wall to reduce the risk of accidents, especially when children live in the household.

If no instructions are available, the mounting hardware can also be purchased at any hardware store. In that case, it is advisable to follow IKEA’s assembly steps found in the general instructions or on their website. These are often available as PDFs if the paper version is missing.

Hello and thank you for the detailed information so far!

As an addition: If there is no printed instruction for wall mounting included, it helps to search online for the product name “Brimnes” on IKEA’s website and then select the “Assembly Instructions” section. There is often a PDF available that explicitly describes the wall mounting process.

Here are a few practical tips for installation:
- It is best to install the safety system at the upper part of the cabinet to reduce the leverage effect of the furniture tipping over.
- When drilling into the wall, make sure to watch out for electrical wires and plumbing.
- Use suitable anchors and screws; otherwise, the safety system may be ineffective.

If you want to be absolutely sure, you can also hire a professional for the installation, especially with problematic wall materials.

I personally mounted Brimnes shelves on a drywall (plasterboard) wall – special cavity anchors proved effective here. The installation steps are as follows:
- Measure the distance and position of the brackets
- Drill holes
- Insert anchors
- Screw on the brackets
- Attach the furniture

If you need specific measurements or materials, feel free to ask!
