Hello everyone, I have a specific question about safely transporting the IKEA Brimnes. The furniture usually comes in several parts, which can be quite fragile—especially the large panels and doors made of particleboard or MDF. How is it best to pack everything to avoid scratches, cracks, or warping during transport? Are there proven methods, materials, or special techniques you would recommend, for example, when traveling by car? I would appreciate detailed answers, as I want to prevent any unnecessary damage on the way from IKEA to home.

For transporting the IKEA Brimnes, it is recommended to protect the individual parts well in advance. Easily scratched surfaces can be secured with bubble wrap or blankets. Additionally, all screws and small parts should be stored in resealable bags and labeled to facilitate reassembly. When loading into a car, it is important that the boards lie flat and are secured as firmly as possible to avoid movement and shocks. When loading, it is also advisable to protect sharp edges with foam clips or foam rubber to prevent pressure marks.

Absolutely right. I personally always pack my old wool blankets to protect the surface and create cushioning at the same time. This makes the drive more comfortable—for both the furniture piece and the driver 😄. Additionally, you can avoid loud creaks when the boards rub against each other in the trunk.

A good tip: Always stack boards with the clean side facing up. Don’t forget to keep loose parts and screws together in boxes.

It is also important that no heavy objects are placed on the boards, as this can warp or damage the panels.

Thanks for the tip, blankets also seem very useful to me. What about films? Is regular stretch film enough, or is bubble wrap necessary for the delicate MDF parts? And do you have experience with the corners of the furniture piece? Should these be additionally padded separately, or is wrapping the entire panel sufficient?
