Hello everyone, I am currently planning to better organize my Ikea Pax wardrobe, as the interior layout with just clothes rails and shelves will soon no longer be sufficient. Therefore, my question is: Are there any special accessories or add-ons that can be purchased to better and more functionally organize the inside of the Pax? I am interested in both official Ikea parts and useful alternatives that integrate well and effectively create storage space. Specifically, I am looking for flexible dividers for clothing, accessories, and smaller items, possibly also pull-out drawers or special insert systems. What are your experiences or recommendations?

Hello, yes, Ikea itself offers quite a few items, such as drawer inserts, boxes, baskets, as well as glass shelves and clothes rails in various widths. There are also pull-out drawers and dividers that can be combined quite well. Just take a look in the Ikea accessories section.

IKEA actually offers several practical solutions that make the interior of the Pax wardrobe highly versatile:

- Drawer inserts made of wood or metal, which can be flexibly placed to effectively separate storage space at mid-height.
- Shorter hanging rods, allowing you to install two horizontal levels, ideal for shirts and pants.
- Glass shelves as intermediate levels that let more light through and improve visibility.
- Baskets and boxes made of bamboo or metal that help organize accessories or underwear.
- Pull-out shoe racks or trouser hangers as additional accessories.

Often underestimated is the option to use dividers to section wide shelves into different compartments. This provides a clearer overview, especially when storing smaller clothing items separately.

Before ordering accessories, it’s worthwhile to carefully measure the dimensions and consider what and why you want to store in the wardrobe — for example, whether you need more space for folded clothes or for hanging items.

I’m also curious: What is your current Pax configuration, and what bothers you the most about it? The more details you provide, the more targeted the advice can be.

I think this is important because I often felt that none of the accessories really fit well or achieved the desired effect. What helped me was simply clearing out the wardrobe and thinking about which items I need frequent and quick access to. Then I deliberately got a few shelves and smaller baskets that I can easily move around.

I also believe that using your own boxes or small storage containers inside can make a big difference if they are well matched to the dimensions. Sometimes that flexibility is worth more than fixed, ready-made sets.

What worked for me was a mix of fixed Pax inserts and self-bought solutions. It was important for me to avoid stress while improving organization – and that works when you don’t buy accessories on a whim, but choose them based on your own usage habits.

Since there are surely multiple ways to solve this, I’d be interested to hear about others’ experiences!
