NeuMünchner4 Sep 2018 08:34Hello everyone,
We have purchased an apartment in the Munich suburbs from the developer. The shell of the building has started, and the apartment is expected to be ready to move in by mid-2019.
Now, the developer has offered us the option to order a special fan for the kitchen on a custom request basis. This active fan is not suitable for connecting to a range hood.
It is the same fan as in the bathroom of the apartment, which ensures the ventilation of the apartment (model Lunos Silvento). The device in the kitchen will be integrated into the existing ventilation system of the apartment and connected to the exhaust main duct.
The fan is planned to be installed at the position marked Kü-L-AV-v in the attached kitchen plan and can be switched on and off via a push button. The kitchen is partially open to the living/dining area above.
The extra cost for the fan is around 800 EUR, which includes all necessary labor and material costs.
We are currently considering whether to order the kitchen fan. Our doubts/questions are as follows:
Thanks in advance for your answers!

- Is this even necessary? We have a large window in the kitchen that can be opened if needed.
- Noise level during operation
- Price!
Thanks in advance for your answers!

The plan shows where the exhaust duct to the central ventilation system runs. You absolutely cannot connect a range hood there, and even a proper hood won’t work with just a 75mm (3 inch) or 90mm (3.5 inch) duct anyway...

At the position shown, it’s definitely wrong.
I would put it above the cooktop and connect the range hood to it.

A controlled residential ventilation system has nothing in common with a range hood. One provides powerful airflow without limits, while the other ensures a steady, slow exchange of indoor air.
The exhaust air vent is mainly intended to prevent the kitchen air from having to travel through the living space to reach the nearest exhaust vent, which in your example would be the one in the bathroom.

NeuMünchner5 Sep 2018 09:59Thank you for your responses. This confirms our initial assessment not to install the kitchen extractor fan not .
Regarding the cooker hood above the stove: due to structural reasons (the appearance of the facade must not be changed), we cannot install a ducted hood venting to the outside. Therefore, all apartments in the complex have recirculating extractor hoods. This is fine for us, and we also have the same setup in our current rental apartment.
