Hello everyone,

Is a trap necessary in a paved garage? The water can also seep through the joints. And with a trap in the middle of the garage, a slope towards the trap must be created from every side, whereas without a trap, paving would be simpler, as a slope towards the garage door would be sufficient (the area in front of the garage also slopes downward). Thank you very much

Hello,
as far as I know, you are not allowed to have a drain in the garage. In case of an oil leak, the oil would otherwise flow uncontrolled into the sewage system.
What water do you want to let infiltrate into the ground? The water you bring into the garage with your car when it rains?
Otherwise, it probably also depends on your subsoil and your paving.

By the way, we solved it like this:
The screed in the garage has a slight slope towards the garage door. If there ever is a larger amount of water (which hasn’t happened so far), it can then flow towards the door. In front of the door, we installed a channel drain.

Do you mean a drain? Because a siphon has the function of reducing odors!

Yes, I mean a drain with a trap. Water or snow brought into the garage by the car.
A waste pipe comes from a sink in the garage. And on this waste pipe, a drain could be installed in the middle of the garage. I wonder what benefit that would really have.

Then relax.

Ensure proper ventilation in the garage (e.g., windows) and, as a precaution, slope your paving slightly toward the garage door.
