Hello,

we are looking for an electric sectional garage door to retrofit.

Our garage currently has a manual up-and-over door, which we want to replace with an electric sectional door.

There is power available in the garage.

Which garage door opener would you recommend?

Hörmann is probably a good choice, but are there any other good alternatives?

The garage door should work with two remote controls and have a wall switch inside the house next to the front door. (When we leave through the front door, we want to press the switch and have the garage door open so that it is already open by the time we arrive.)

If possible, the garage door should also be made "smart home" capable, either immediately or with an additional module, for example compatible with Matter.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,

Buy the Hörmann drive; it has been running trouble-free for years. I got mine from Bauhaus.

What are the drawbacks of a Hörmann operator?

When it comes to smart home integration, the UAP1 HCP module is definitely the best choice, and it’s also advisable to install a photoelectric sensor at the gate.

With Hörmann, you can’t go wrong.
Of course, there are many other options.
“Smart” is always accessed via a switch contact and an open/closed monitoring.

Why do you want to replace the gate? You can attach the drive to the existing gate.

You can't go wrong with Hörmann.
I would advise against Sommer, as we have had only problems with our sliding gate drive.

He wants a sectional door instead of the swing door.
