ᐅ Installing a laundry chute in the shower?

Hello everyone,
we are about to complete the bathroom on the top floor of our new build. The pipes have already been installed going upwards. We have a laundry chute in that room. We would also like to install a shower, which would need to be positioned in a way that the laundry chute is integrated into it. Do you have any ideas on how to make the chute waterproof? Is this even possible?

I find a laundry chute completely unnecessary. Actually, quite the opposite. It takes away the part of the whole process that is least annoying, fastest, and not tiring at all.

The main point is to avoid gathering dirty laundry in a pile somewhere in the bathroom before carrying it down, not just the act of carrying it down itself (although I agree that is also a convenience). I wouldn’t want to look at a pile of dirty clothes in my nice, new bathroom!

In a family with two children, that pile grows very quickly!

With a laundry chute, in the best case, I have this pile right next to or above the washing machine...

Even better inside the shaft. But that’s not really the question here.

My pile goes straight into the laundry basket next to the washing machine. That saves an extra step 😉

But there are laundry baskets available in all kinds of styles, shapes, and colors. They can also be used as seating options in the best case.

Yes, they are not heavy or bulky at all 😉 I definitely wouldn’t want to carry them down several times a week, especially not into a basement that is over 2 meters (6.5 feet) deep...

But you still have to carry the finished laundry back up again.
