Hello everyone,
we are about to complete the bathroom on the top floor of our new build. The pipes have already been installed going upwards. We have a laundry chute in that room. We would also like to install a shower, which would need to be positioned in a way that the laundry chute is integrated into it. Do you have any ideas on how to make the chute waterproof? Is this even possible?

In our case, no. Built it ourselves; the elevator is also used for firewood and all kinds of items that need to be taken up to the attic (there is no basement). It could even be used later as a replacement for a stairlift. Built it yourself? That sounds interesting.
(In one of the properties my employer helps manage, there is a dumbwaiter that’s used once in a blue moon, and the maintenance and service costs are almost 800 euros per year. I’d rather pay myself to carry the laundry—or have my kid do it 😀 )

So what is it exactly now? 😳
(a few characters were still missing...)Well, both. I often thought, “Damn, I have to go downstairs to get the laundry out of the machine.” Then I either went down to get it or postponed it until the next opportunity. At those times, I wished I could do the laundry upstairs. But every time I walked downstairs, I felt it was actually good for me to make the effort for daily tasks. I noticed that even the short exertion of going down four floors did me physical good. It’s like going for a jog. You often don’t feel like it, but it’s actually beneficial.
I even go as far as trying not to make everything too convenient. Somehow that helps me organize my daily life in a more hands-on way than if everything happens too quickly.
