Hello dear Ikea fan community,

I am currently planning my kitchen with Metod. I had previously planned with Faktum and am now trying to implement everything with Metod.

What doesn’t really work for me is the corner solution. I can’t use the 128 cm (50 inches) corner base cabinet in terms of width. So not the 88 cm (35 inches) one either. However, it is only available with a carousel, which does not allow for optimal use of the available storage space.

So I was wondering if the 80x68 cm (31.5x27 inches) wall corner cabinet with shelves might be more practical to use. Is it even possible to install it as a corner base cabinet? Do the feet fit underneath? Does the top board interfere under the countertop?

Another advantage for me would be that I could replace the two 20 cm (8 inches) cabinets with 40 cm (16 inches) cabinets.

Thanks for your input

I wanted to experiment a bit with the planner and took out my laptop with Windows. When a blue screen appeared halfway through, it reminded me once again that I shouldn’t use that operating system. Unfortunately, the planner doesn’t run on Linux.
And after the sink, there’s the dishwasher. So no tall cabinet.

I meant on the opposite side.
If I place the 40cm (16 inches) cabinet between the sink and the cooktop, then the water connections will be behind the 40cm (16 inches) base cabinet.

If it’s not a rental property, I would recommend relocating the connections rather than having a poor layout. Otherwise, you can also run the pipes along the wall behind the other cabinet. Having the dishwasher first and then the sink would be better in terms of workspace if the connections can be moved that far.

An under-cabinet hood in the 80cm (31.5 inches) wall cabinet wouldn’t break up the cabinet run. I don’t find it very attractive when a free-standing hood is squeezed between cabinets. Also, the cooktop wouldn’t have to be centered under the wall opening.

I would leave out the corner cabinet cramped between the wall and the fridge/freezer combo and place the combo in the row instead, maybe on the opposite side next to a tall cabinet with the oven. Ideally, of course, an integrated combo in the cabinet. Naturally, you can’t replace everything if you already have some items and don’t have money to spare.
