Since there are no stupid questions, I'll just ask. 🙂 Today we unexpectedly received applications for the installation of gas/electric connections. They thanked us for our inquiry! 😕 We did not make any request! 😕 Is it necessary to have the connections installed by the local utility company (Stadtwerke Herne), or are there other options?

Nope... they have an almost monopoly. No one admits it, but you have to have the connections installed by the local network operator. And then you also pay them huge fees for the basic supply. Be careful not to sign a one-year contract there.

And thanks to their monopoly, every ground-breaking costs a lot of money 🙂

Hello there, thank you for your reply. The electricity connection will cost us €1872.47 (approximately $2,000), and the gas connection is supposed to cost €2128.14 (approximately $2,275). Oh yes, and then there’s the telecommunications. With the telecom provider, it’s impossible to see what the whole thing will actually cost in the end. I would really like to know who was so "kind" as to share our data.

Thanks for the tip about the annual contract; I will read everything again right away.

Have a nice Sunday!

The telecom provider will charge you either €0 if you have the connection installed on the outside of the house, or about €360 if you want a TAE socket inside the house.

The building authority responsible for your construction project; that was easy now 😉

Correction, I transferred the payment myself two days ago 😎

Telecom costs:

AP "basic service" = outside the house 0.00 Euro
AP "basement or utility room" = 399.95 Euro flat rate
If the AP in the basement needs to be waterproof against pressure water, an additional 250 Euro plus VAT applies

But the 399.95 Euro only covers the AP in the utility room or basement; the telecom company does not provide the TAE sockets.
This is the electrician’s responsibility....

At least this is the case in NRW, Waltrop, which is very close to Herne
