Hello everyone!

I wanted to install a triple Veddinge front with 3 Bankett handles on a cabinet with a Vaglig system, without any modifications. This configuration was set up in the planner and appeared on the order list, so in my opinion, it should work.

Now I have the problem that the Bankett handles are screwed to the fronts from the back. As a result, when combined with the Vaglig system, a visible angled gap appears from the side, and logically, the two lower fronts do not sit flush.

I have read the instructions about 100 times but couldn’t find anything related to my issue. One might suggest leaving out the two lower handles. That could be an option, but if there is a proper solution to this problem, I would like to install them to achieve a consistent front appearance.

Do you perhaps have any helpful information regarding my issue?

Best regards

Hello,

I can think of two DIY solutions: either carefully trim the two lower panels where Vaglig runs with a fine metal saw and a file so that they align flush with the back of the fronts, or place washers of the same thickness as the part of the panel handles protruding backward under the upper mounting screws of Vaglig.
I would prefer the first solution – with the second, the gap between the dishwasher and the front might be problematic.

Hello IKEA fan,

I was thinking along the same lines... unfortunately.

But with the radical approach using a metal saw: the screws for the Blankett are located exactly where the fronts meet the Vaglig. That means if I cut out those areas, I will also have to drill new mounting holes for the handles.

Somehow, it seems the IKEA designers didn’t fully think this through.

... and the simplest solution: just leave out the lower handles, since they don’t really serve a purpose.

If the purely decorative handles are important to you visually and better match the kitchen’s design lines, I wouldn’t skip them.

I would do exactly as IKEA-Freund suggests: cut along the rail at the back edge of the blankett handles. The blankett handles will still remain stable and won’t move, even if you open the dishwasher using the lower handles. The missing drill holes for the screws are the least of your problems. Just drill a hole on each side of the cutout with a 2mm (approx. 1/16 inch) metal drill bit, then follow up with a 6mm (approx. 1/4 inch) metal drill bit to create a countersink for the screw head (so don’t drill all the way through). Drilling into aluminum is almost as easy as drilling into wood—you just need to be confident. The missing drill holes only take about a minute of work.

You can find suitable screws for the additional handle holes at any hardware store. Even if the screws are yellow, you won’t see them behind the dishwasher near the lower handles anyway.
