Hello, I’m new here and have already used the search function but didn’t find anything. Our room is 280cm (110 inches) wide and we want to use the full width with sliding doors. With the Pax wardrobe system, you could theoretically build a width of 275cm (108 inches), for example 75cm (30 inches) + 75cm (30 inches) + 75cm (30 inches) + 50cm (20 inches). I think that shouldn’t be a problem. However, I’m not quite sure about the sliding doors. There are sliding doors for 250cm (98 inches) and 300cm (118 inches) widths, but not for 275cm (108 inches). Has anyone done this before? Can you simply use the sliding doors for 300cm (118 inches) width and shorten the tracks? The doors would then overlap by 25cm (10 inches), and the second unit from the left in the example above wouldn’t fully open. As long as you don’t use drawers there, that should be fine, right? I’m grateful for any tips. By the way, I’m skilled with DIY, so modifications or similar adjustments are no problem for me. Thanks for your advice...

Nayla_10685 Oct 2012 12:35Hello,
you should avoid the sliding door option or choose a height of 250cm (98 inches). In my opinion, shortening it is not possible. Cutting the door will always create a "weak" edge. The doors need to roll above that edge, and due to their weight, this would compromise your construction. Also, how would the cut hold together? With screws or something similar? In that case, the doors wouldn’t move at all, because how would they overcome a screw head? You’re surely aware that these modifications would also void your warranties.
Sorry, but it’s unfortunately not possible.

I have a very similar problem.
We have three 1m (3.3 feet) cabinets and want to equip them with three sliding doors. (Unfortunately, 2x 1.50m (5 feet) doors are not possible here).
The idea is to buy two pairs of sliding doors—put one pair aside on the balcony—and cut one of the tracks in half. Has anyone done this before or can someone clearly explain why this wouldn’t work?
