Hello Ikea fans,

I am currently planning a new kitchen for us. That means 2 adults and 2 children.
It may not sound too complicated at first, but with only 5m² (54 ft²) of kitchen space, the layout options are limited, and there are some extra requests.

Since I’m new here and still figuring out how to upload photos, I’m starting with a simple floor plan.
I managed to upload a layout after all.

Based on the 3D planner (floor view):

Wall A: 227cm (89 inches)
Wall B: 223cm (88 inches)
Wall C: 228cm (90 inches) (Wall 79.5cm (31 inches) / Passage 71.5cm (28 inches) / Wall 77cm (30 inches))
Wall D: 223cm (88 inches) (Wall 43cm (17 inches) / Window 137cm (54 inches) / Wall 43cm (17 inches)) Window height 148cm (58 inches) (measured from top of windowsill to lintel). I just measured the recess of the window.

Ceiling height: 265cm (104 inches)

Water and stove connections are on Wall B, approximately 63.5cm (25 inches) from the upper left corner in the 3D planner.

Light switch is on Wall C, 61cm (24 inches) from the left.
Don’t forget the various power outlets. Since our kitchen is already furnished, exact measurements are impossible, but here are approximate positions for planning:
On Wall A, a surface-mounted socket for the range hood.
Wall B has a double flush-mounted socket at working height in the upper left, and a flush-mounted socket at the bottom left for the refrigerator.
On Wall D, on each narrow wall section, there is a double surface-mounted socket at working height.

Oh, and there is one more thing: in the corner between Walls A and D is a thin heating pipe. We no longer have heating in the kitchen, so to be precise, this is a 7 x 9cm (3 x 4 inches) dead corner.

Now to the wishes or the elements that must be integrated into the new kitchen:

Refrigerator: Height 186cm (73 inches), Width 60cm (24 inches), Color gray/silver
Washing machine: Front loader, Height 84.5cm (33 inches), Width 60cm (24 inches), Depth (according to manual) 63cm (25 inches), Color white
My personal special request: washing machine to be concealed as much as possible.

My husband’s wishes include a tall pantry cabinet similar to a pull-out cupboard and the countertop height. Currently, the sink and cooking areas have a height of 95cm (37 inches), and the work area is 92cm (36 inches).

My wishes include the concealed washing machine, a cabinet above the refrigerator for thermos flasks and “useless” clutter, and an integrated trash bin. Right now, the bin stands in front of the cabinet and always needs to be moved to access it.

The whole family’s wish: DISHWASHER

We have been using a second-hand 45cm (18 inches) model for almost a year. So it wouldn’t be a big deal if we ended up with another 45cm (18 inches) dishwasher. One more thing about washing—since I’m still the only one doing the dishes (pots, etc.)—I am right-handed. So please, no draining rack on the left side. Because of the dishwasher, we had to change the sink and now the draining board has been relegated to a "plant shelf."

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Best regards,
Milena

I’m afraid the surprise egg is too small for all those wishes.

I know. I’m also aware that we will have to make some compromises or do quite a bit of tweaking.

I’ve already started planning. In each corner, I’m thinking of putting 88cm (35 inches) corner cabinets—one with a carousel and one without. The one without would have the sink. I also read the thread "better a dead corner than a carousel."

That’s why I’m grateful for any suggestions.

I roughly considered the following layout as an option:

Wall B from the door: refrigerator, washing machine, 80cm (31.5 inches) base cabinet with sink, and 40cm (15.7 inches) cabinet door
Wall A next to the 80cm (31.5 inches) base cabinet: dishwasher, stove
Window wall next to dead corner: 40cm (15.7 inches) deep base cabinet 60cm (23.6 inches) wide, 40cm (15.7 inches) base cabinet, and a 40cm (15.7 inches) pull-out pantry unit for your husband.

Great idea, I hadn't thought of that before. THANK YOU.

Since I want a trash chute, would that also work with the 40 US?

And I can modify the dead corner at the window the way you have it, right?

You can install a 40cm (16 inches) pull-out drawer in the cabinet to place a trash bin inside.

The dead corner on the window side cannot be used effectively.
