Hello,
I bought the Hopen bed and in January I got a slatted bed base from Aldi. Unfortunately, the slatted base seems a bit too small in length and width. It doesn’t fail in width, but it doesn’t fit perfectly, which is probably why it squeaks. Does anyone have a good tip on how to best secure it? (Brackets or rather wooden blocks??? Or something completely different?)
I would be very happy to hear any ideas.

Regards

I'm not an expert in bedrooms, but as far as I know, only the slatted frame from IKEA fits in IKEA beds.

As far as I’ve read, the width fits, but the length doesn’t, right? And the slatted frame doesn’t fall down either. I work in the bedroom department and can say that even our slatted frames don’t fit perfectly in length; there are usually a few centimeters left free. To stop the squeaking, you could try using simple thin felt (available at hardware stores, similar to the felt pads used in drawers).

In general, as far as I know, a slatted frame that is 140cm (55 inches) wide should fit any 140cm (55 inches) wide bed, due to competition standards and such.

Hi, thanks for your ideas!
The slatted frame seems to be just a little too short in width as well. It rests only with 1–2 mm (0.04–0.08 inches) on the metal rail of the bed on one side.
I was thinking about buying a piece of wood to connect it with the slatted frame!
Good idea?????

Hello, I also have the HOPEN bed and the Aldi slatted frame, and I encountered the same problem. Really annoying. I’m now thinking about just screwing on brackets on which the slatted frame can rest.

Does anyone else have another idea?

So, I simply screwed two wooden slats under the longer sides of the slatted frame, and it works very well 🙂 It wasn’t expensive either, about 1 Euro per wooden slat.

Good luck 🙂
