Seb_7274Hello everyone,
We are considering buying two vanity cabinets from the Godmorgon/Odensvik series for our two sinks (Villeroy & Boch Subway: 800 x 470 mm (31.5 x 18.5 inches) and 600 x 470 mm (23.6 x 18.5 inches)):
- Godmorgon / ODENSVIK vanity cabinet with 2 drawers, white
- GODMORGON / ODENSVIK vanity cabinet with 2 drawers, white
Since it’s a rented apartment, we don’t want to drill any holes in the bathroom walls.
Do you think it’s possible to use these cabinets without wall mounting, meaning placing feet underneath and adjusting them as high as possible so the cabinet aligns with the sink?
In this case, can the cabinet tip over when drawers are fully extended?
Is it possible to remove the cabinet’s siphon so the vanity can basically just slide under the sink?
Thanks in advance for your feedback. If this doesn’t work, do you know any alternatives for the sinks mentioned? Unfortunately, we haven’t found any others that fit these dimensions, except the expensive original Villeroy & Boch cabinets.

So you want to brace the cabinet under the washbasin to prevent it from tipping, together with the silicone sealant? Are the washbasins already installed? That will also require holes, so the additional ones for the cabinet shouldn’t make much of a difference.
You don’t have to use the trap (whether it’s certified or not is unrelated), but a standard-height trap might prevent the upper drawer from being installed because it could interfere. The installation instructions explain what to consider when fitting the trap, so have a look at them. Whether the IKEA trap fits with a Villeroy & Boch basin is another matter. Perhaps Villeroy & Boch uses a standard trap and designs the upper drawer with cutouts accordingly?

Hello,
thank you, exactly, the tilting should then be prevented by resting it against the sink (provided the legs really stay at the set length and don’t have any play, drilling is unfortunately not an option). The sink is already installed, yes. I’ll have to take a look at the traps from the Ikea shelf and the Villeroy & Boch sink. If necessary, can the top drawer be cut out to fit the standard trap?

IKEA-Experte7 Oct 2015 17:53Hello,
the siphon compatible with GODMORGON is not sold separately at IKEA. It is only available together with the sink. However, space-saving siphons can also be purchased from plumbing suppliers.
Cutting out the drawer would be quite a tricky job.
You need to check whether the connection strip at the back top might interfere with parts of the sink.
Some kind of securing for GODMORGON against shifting should be applied, even if it’s just some easily removable adhesive putty between the cabinet and the sink. Nowadays, there are many great products available for this.
