Hello everyone, I am planning to get a single Pax wardrobe system from IKEA and want to have a clear idea before buying, about how much storage space such a wardrobe actually offers.

Since the Pax systems are modular and come in various widths, heights, and interior configurations, I am particularly interested in how much volume or usable storage space you get with a typical single wardrobe, for example with standard dimensions of 100 cm (39 inches) wide, 236 cm (93 inches) high, and 60 cm (24 inches) deep.

So how much storage space does a single Pax wardrobe provide in such a standard setup? Are there any practical experiences regarding how much clothing, shoes, or other items can be stored when combining shelves, hanging rails, and drawers? I would appreciate any estimates or specific measurements!

The best approach is to combine shelves, drawers, and hanging rods for flexible use.

I completely agree, since storage capacity depends not only on size but also on smart organization.

For example, if you only use hanging rods, it’s hard to stack or fold items. Drawers are great for organizing smaller things. It gives the whole system more depth, if you ask me.

To describe the storage space more precisely: A Pax closet with a width of 100 cm (40 inches) and a height of 236 cm (93 inches) has a gross volume of approximately 0.6 mÂł (21 cubic feet).

Depending on the interior configuration, the usable volume will be slightly smaller—due to drawers, for example.

Conclusion: For a single-person household, a single wall storage unit is sufficient, provided no oversized items need to be stored.

In short: Each Pax is like a Swiss Army knife for your clothes! It takes a bit of a Tetris game to fit everything in, but it’s definitely a solid foundation, even if you’re not planning on a full walk-in closet. 😎

One last tip: A depth of 60 cm (24 inches) is ideal for hanging clothes like shirts, jackets, etc. If you mainly use shelves, about 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of depth will be lost due to the shelf thickness.

Therefore, it’s better to store items like shoes in the lower section. This way, you make the best use of the available storage space.
