Hello everyone,
Due to my job, I move very frequently and own several IKEA Platsa furniture pieces. My question is: How secure and stable are the Platsa units when moved often? Specifically, I am interested in how well the construction and the materials withstand repeated assembly and disassembly without losing stability or wearing out faster.
I mainly use the furniture for storage in living and work areas, so it’s important that they remain durable and safe after multiple moves. Are there any known weak points or tips on how to avoid damage from repeated assembly? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Regarding surface protection during the move: Honestly, I would rely on anything that provides cushioning – blankets, bubble wrap, even thick towels. Then secure everything with tape to prevent shifting. This way, my Platsa cases usually end up with minimal scratches.
By the way: If you disassemble the modules, it's best to sort the screws into small bags and label them – this saves a lot of headaches during reassembly!

A relevant technical recommendation regarding packaging:
- Transport furniture parts preferably lying flat
- Protect sensitive edges with edge protectors (foam or cardboard)
- Store screws and fittings separately in different containers
Particleboard swelling damage caused by moisture is a frequently overlooked cause of warping, so always store dry.
Important: Frequent disassembly generally increases the risk of material fatigue, which in the case of panel furniture usually appears as broken edges or worn-out bushings.

In summary, I would say:
- Platsa furniture is suitable for frequent moves if handled carefully and the screws are regularly retightened.
- Doors and hinges are sensitive components that require special attention.
- Surface foil and edges should be well protected, ideally with blankets or edge protectors.
- Sort screws and have spare parts on hand if needed.
Anyone with additional tips on assembly or common issues with Platsa is welcome to add!
