Hello everyone, I am currently facing the task of installing sliding doors on an Ikea Pax wardrobe and could use some support. Although the Ikea instructions are included, I find them somewhat insufficient in certain areas, especially regarding the precise attachment of the running rails and how to best adjust the doors so they close cleanly and flush.
Could someone please explain in detail how to properly install the sliding doors, what to pay attention to, and if there are any specific tips or tools that make the installation and adjustment easier and more precise? What is a sensible order of steps, and are there common mistakes I should avoid?
I would appreciate as detailed guidance as possible, as I want to do this properly.

What helped me was assembling everything loosely at first and then adjusting step by step. Every now and then, step back and check if the doors are really aligned. By now, it works perfectly for me. So keep at it; the result is worth it!
After all the previous suggestions, this morning I realigned the tracks and test-fitted the doors. It turned out that one track was slightly misaligned, which caused the sticking. Adjusting the screws on the bottom guide also works well.
What I’m still curious about: How much vertical adjustment is possible for the doors? I noticed that the doors can be raised or lowered slightly by adjusting the bottom roller – is it advisable for the doors to align flush with the top frame or to sit just below it? Are there any manufacturing reasons for this?

Adjusting the height aims to ensure that the doors operate smoothly and without friction, while also closing in a visually harmonious way. A slight gap—just a few millimeters (inches)—to the top frame is often recommended to prevent damage to the door finish and to keep the door moving easily.
This also helps prevent the doors from sticking due to expansion or temperature changes. The optimal adjustment is a combination of a minimal gap and parallel alignment with the cabinet sides.

This helps prevent unwanted contact caused by heat or moisture. Additionally, when adjusting, it’s recommended to proceed in small increments and test the doors several times.
If all doors run side by side, the height difference should be kept as minimal as possible to ensure a smooth, continuous front.
