Hello everyone,

I have several Billy shelves that I want to place on a floor that is quite uneven. My question is: What is the best way to stabilize my Billy shelf on uneven floors so that it doesn’t wobble or tip over? I am looking for simple and sustainable solutions that avoid damage to both the shelf and the floor.

If anyone has experienced similar issues, I would be very grateful for specific tips. Suggestions for suitable tools or practical tricks are also welcome. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the tips so far!

My floor is an old parquet with slight unevenness. The Billy is placed exactly where the floor is a bit slanted, causing the door to close irregularly and the shelf to wobble slightly. I want to avoid damaging the parquet, so I prefer not to screw directly into the floor.

For safety reasons, it is recommended to additionally secure the shelf to the wall.

Wall mounting is possible for me and I also think it makes sense.

If the floor is very uneven, adjustable furniture glides made of metal with plastic pads can be a good solution.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get such furniture glides and which brands are known for quality? I don’t want to skimp here since the shelf will occasionally carry heavy loads.

I look forward to hearing more practical experiences!
