Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install Ikea Metod wall cabinets in my kitchen and am looking for ways to secure them safely and firmly without drilling into the wall. The usual methods typically require anchors and screws, which is not an option in my rented apartment. Are there practical alternatives to hang Metod wall cabinets without permanent wall drilling? It is important to me that the solution is truly secure so that the cabinets remain reliably in place over time and do not become loose or fall down. Perhaps you know of special brackets, clamping mechanisms, or other tricks that not only work in theory but are also load-bearing in practice. I would really appreciate any tips, experiences, or assessments on this topic.

You could also experiment with surface carriers that provide large adhesive areas, such as strong mounting tapes or hooks. But honestly, for kitchen cabinets with weight, this is not really advisable. Personally, I would prefer a clever combination of clamping systems and targeted fastenings. Better safe than sorry, especially when coffee is being prepared underneath! 😄

The challenge is that Metod wall cabinets are designed by the manufacturer for wall mounting with drilled holes. If you prefer not to drill into the wall, you could consider a freestanding kitchen island that integrates these cabinets. Alternatively, there are adjustable ceiling mounts that can be tensioned between the countertop and the ceiling. However, the components must be very sturdy, and the mounting system does not fit every ceiling height or room layout. For rental apartments, I recommend using alternative furniture concepts designed specifically for freestanding use.

This is an important point. If you want to avoid permanent drilling, Metod wall cabinets should preferably not be repurposed. Instead, modular shelving systems or freestanding kitchen cabinets offer more flexibility. If stability of wall cabinets without anchors is still required, experimenting with professional support and clamping systems remains the only option. The load capacity should always be checked.
