Hello everyone,

I’m currently facing the challenge of securely attaching the doors on my new Ikea Platsa wardrobe. I’m especially interested in tips on how to install the doors so that they remain stable over time, even with frequent use.

I’ve read that the supplied hinges can sometimes be tricky to adjust, and that after a while the doors may become a bit loose or no longer close properly. Are there any proven methods or even alternative fastening options to prevent this?

For context: I want to mount the Platsa doors on a room divider that needs to be fairly sturdy, as the doors will be opened and closed often. Thanks for your insights and guidance!

I also think it is important to emphasize that when installing Platsa doors, not only the technical aspect matters, but also how you handle the furniture.

Often, it is everyday use that puts strain on the fittings. Gentle operation of the doors, avoiding unnecessary impacts, and not subjecting them to excessive force help keep the hinges intact and the doors stable for a longer time.

Additionally, I understand that some users feel everything must be made excessively secure—however, proper adjustment achieves much more than simply "adding more screws" or "using different hinges."

So, those who adjust the doors carefully and precisely usually do not encounter any problems.

Simple:
- Tighten hinges firmly, but not too tight
- Align the door using the adjustment screws
- Align the cabinet frame straight
Done, then the doors will hold well.
The Platsa hinges are sufficiently sturdy.

If the doors wobble, adding small wooden strips inside the cabinet can sometimes help to better support the hinges. Regular adjustments after about a year also make sense – this is normal for furniture made from wood panels.

Be careful not to over-tighten when securing the screws, as this can quickly cause the fastening to loosen again.
