Hello everyone,

I recently put together the IKEA Platsa system and am now considering the best way to equip the doors with handles. My specific question is: Does IKEA offer special handles designed specifically for Platsa doors, or are these doors generally intended to be used with third-party or standard furniture handles?

I am especially interested in compatibility, ease of installation, and appearance. Has anyone had experience with this or possibly has alternative recommendations?

Thank you for your help!

Hello Prahugo,

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when you’re looking for the right handles for a system and aren’t sure what is really compatible. I also spent a long time deciding before making my choice. From my experience, IKEA does not offer handles designed exclusively for PLATSA doors. Instead, the doors are made to work with standard handles.

When I was searching for recommendations, I found that some users prefer simple bar handles or small knobs that fit the door’s hole spacing. Maybe you’ll find even more insights here in this forum.

Keep at it—you’ll definitely find something suitable!

Additional information:

IKEA PLATSA doors have standardized drilled holes that fit most common furniture handles. IKEA mainly offers handle bars and knobs for their kitchen and cabinet fronts but does not have any designed specifically for PLATSA.

This means:
- You can use regular furniture handles with a spacing of 128 mm (5 inches) or similar sizes.
- Installation is easy thanks to the pre-drilled holes.
- Visually, it is recommended to choose handles that match the minimalist design of the PLATSA series.

If you are interested in handle bars, you should consider the depth and mounting method of the high-gloss fronts to avoid gaps.

In summary: No special IKEA PLATSA handles, instead universal solutions.

Hello Prahugo,

I wanted to add that although there are no dedicated PLATSA handles from IKEA, IKEA does offer several handles that fit PLATSA doors. For example, the "Långtärn," "Berör," or "Ringskär" series. These are primarily intended for kitchen fronts and dressers, but their drilling dimensions are compatible with PLATSA doors.

If you don’t like the style of those handles, third-party door handles are also an option, as the hole pattern is usually compatible. The important thing is to double-check the drilling measurements before installation, since PLATSA doors are available in different versions (wood look, melamine, etc.).

If you like, I can explain in more detail how I have equipped my doors and which screws fit.

There are no IKEA-specific handles specially made for PLATSA.

You can use any furniture handles that match the drilling pattern of the doors.

Before purchasing, it is essential to measure the hole distances.

I find this topic really interesting!

I chose simple black bar handles that are very slim and fit perfectly with the modern look of PLATSA.

It’s great that there is so much freedom when choosing handles.

Just try something out—you’ll be surprised at how much it influences the design! 😊
