Hello everyone, I have owned the Ikea PAX wardrobe for several months now, which offers me a lot of storage space and looks good. However, I have noticed that with everyday use, many small scratches and signs of wear appear, which quickly make the otherwise nice piece of furniture look old and unattractive. Therefore, my question to you is: How can I effectively protect my Ikea PAX wardrobe from scratches in daily use without reducing its practical functionality or appearance? Are there any specific materials, care instructions, or tips you would recommend? I am very much looking forward to your detailed advice and experiences.

The best option is a transparent protective film.

That’s the standard answer everyone gives, but honestly: who wants to cover their beautiful cabinet with films? To me, it’s an eyesore, even if it’s transparent.

Mechanical damping on the doors, such as soft-close hinges, can prevent scratches from sudden slamming.

I actually think that’s a good point. Mechanical improvements directly on the cabinet often make more sense than all those protective films or mats, which tend to slip or wear out anyway. Maybe it’s better to rely on high-quality hinges and glides, so the cabinet stays in good condition during everyday use.

Besides, I often get the impression that the fear of scratches is sometimes exaggerated. These signs of wear are simply part of the furniture’s life and show that it’s used. You can also take protection too far. Of course, that’s a matter of personal taste.
