Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an Ikea Pax wardrobe and am currently assembling the doors. Now I’m wondering how to properly attach the wardrobe doors to the wall so they are stable and open and close smoothly. I have already studied the Ikea instructions, but they mainly cover how to attach the doors to the cabinet frame. My wall is quite solid, made of concrete, and I want to avoid the doors coming loose or sagging over time.

Are there any special tips or professional methods for mounting the doors directly to the wall? Do I need to use specific wall anchors or screws, or even additional brackets? How can I ensure optimal alignment? I would also appreciate advice on load distribution in case the doors are very heavy.

Who has experience with securely and permanently attaching Ikea Pax wardrobe doors directly to the wall? Thanks in advance!

I can understand why an uneven wall would be concerning if you’re worried that doors might not hold properly or could become warped.

Is there a way to reinforce the door installation “extra” to make it more stable, without overloading the hinge or damaging the cabinet?

You could also consider adjusting how the doors are used—treating them gently to avoid excessive stress. Sometimes, a simple routine maintenance, like readjusting the hinges as soon as you notice slight shifts, can make a difference.

I think it’s good that you’re thinking about this, but IKEA hinges are generally quite durable when installed correctly. If everything is mounted properly, you usually don’t need to attach the doors directly to the wall. Feel free to keep us updated if you have more questions!
