Hello everyone, I recently bought an Ikea Hemnes piece of furniture, specifically a shelf, and after some time I noticed that the screws keep loosening. This seems not only annoying but potentially problematic for stability in the long run. Therefore, my question is: What is the best way to prevent the screws in Ikea Hemnes furniture, especially those with similar wooden dowels and connectors, from loosening over time? I would appreciate tips on proper assembly, possible additional materials, and experiences on how to securely fix this issue long-term.

However, I also think it’s important not to overtighten the screws. Wood is flexible, and tightening too much can damage the material and, over time, have the opposite effect.
One more quick tip: If you assemble the furniture on a carpet rather than on cold tiled floors, you can avoid warping the wood during assembly.
