Hello everyone, I am currently planning to better organize my kitchen cabinet system from Ikea Metod with drawers in order to make optimal use of the storage space. Since the drawers are quite deep and wide, I am wondering: How can I best optimize the available space in the Ikea Metod drawers to neatly store both small and larger items without everything getting mixed up? I am looking for practical tips such as dividers, modular inserts, or possibly stacking tricks that work particularly well with this type of drawer. Any experiences with special inserts or custom-made box dividers would also be very helpful. Thanks in advance for your ideas!

For me, it's really a fine line between organization with compartments and practical everyday usability.

Exactly! When you find the right inserts, it doesn’t feel like a restriction but rather like having more control. I use stackable inserts in a Metod drawer, where you can store frequently used items for quick access and still have space next to them for less commonly used parts. I swear by this combination!

I find the discussion very interesting, as I face similar challenges. It is not easy to find the right balance of organization without making it impractical. One method that has helped me is dividing drawers into logical sections and clearly labeling them – this provides clarity, especially when several people in the household use the kitchen. Sometimes, it also helps to keep small items together in shallow boxes or bags and place them in the drawers.

Hey, I just wanted to point out that the Metod drawers also offer a lot of space for height-adjustable inserts! Take advantage of using a system like that; it really makes a big difference. I bought small boxes myself that fit perfectly inside and make it easy to take everything out. It’s fun once you get the hang of it!

For the Ikea Metod drawers, simply use insert systems designed for drawers, preferably modular ones. This way, you can easily adjust them as needed and achieve better organization.

My experience: Flexible inserts made of plastic or wood work best. If you only use fixed inserts, you will be limited later on. The important thing is to use the depth consistently and to stack them, but not too high, otherwise you lose track.
