ᐅ How can I optimize the installation of METOD corner cabinets?

Marcel53Hello everyone,
I am currently working on assembling METOD corner cabinets and am looking for proven methods to put them together as efficiently and accurately as possible. I am especially interested in ways to reduce assembly time without compromising stability.
Are there any tips related to preparing the individual parts, the correct assembly sequence, or special tools I should use? Advice on achieving perfect alignment of the corner cartridges or on the fastenings (particularly when combining upper and lower cabinets) would also be helpful.
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences—preferably with detailed tips you have learned in practice. Thanks in advance!

Hey Marcel53! Great that you started this topic here! 😃 I’ve assembled METOD corner cabinets several times and can share a few tips from my experience that really save time and make the whole process much more relaxed!
The most important things for me are:
- Sort and label all parts beforehand so you don’t have to search while assembling.
- Put screws and connectors into small bowls – this prevents endless rummaging and losing them.
- For the corner cabinet, be sure to check the angle carefully, preferably with a protractor!
Using a cordless drill with torque control is also very helpful to avoid over-tightening the screws.
Keep at it and feel free to share how it’s going! You’ve got this!

- When connecting the cartridges, I always use a second person or a small clamping tool to hold the connection steady while I tighten the screws. This prevents the parts from shifting and saves time.
These may seem like small details, but they really make a difference! 😉

To improve the efficiency of assembling the METOD corner cabinets, I recommend carefully checking and preparing the following points beforehand:
- Planning the work steps: Download the assembly manual in advance and go through it step by step. This way, you can sort the parts logically beforehand.
- Tools: A cordless drill with adjustable speed, a reliable angle measuring tool, a spacer for the doors, and a small rubber mallet set are essential.
- Corner cartridges: Properly adjusted connections are key to stability. I suggest loosely attaching both cartridges before final screwing and using gentle leverage to achieve the best fit.
Also, take your time with the base panel: it needs to be precisely aligned before you start with the cartridge. Check the alignment using a spirit level to avoid the cabinet standing crooked later.
When attaching the upper and lower cabinets, first fix the back panel, then insert the connecting screws. This way you can fine-tune the cartridge.
I’m interested to know if you use any special tools or methods to optimize your assembly time?

Could you explain the exact procedure for checking the angle? Do you mean during installation or after everything is assembled? Also, I’m curious if you rely mostly on the original fasteners or if you’ve tried alternative screws or connectors?

I haven’t tried many alternatives to the original slip-fit connections myself, but I’m open to suggestions from you.
For the precise installation of METOD corner cabinets, I have developed the following clear and tested methods:
- Angle check: This should be done after each major assembly step, not only at the end. I use both a digital angle finder and a spirit level to ensure the corner joint and overall cabinet alignment.
- Connecting the cartridges: The clearance should be minimal, about 1-2 millimeters (0.04-0.08 inches), so that after alignment the screws can be tightened without causing distortion. A too tight fit often leads to damage during insertion, so a slight adjustment is recommended.
- Material quality: Original METOD fasteners are designed for the loads involved, so I recommend using them. Alternative screws might void the warranty or affect the mechanics.
- Sequence: After connecting the cartridges, first secure the entire corner structure, then install the back panels and doors to allow for later fine adjustments.
This prevents uneven assemblies and saves rework.
If detailed step-by-step photo instructions are needed, I can provide documented work procedures.
